2011 Annual Golf Outing

The annual Golf outing - an important fund raiser – was held on June 10, 2011 at the Meadows Lake Golf Club in Lincoln Park. The New York Times – unexplainably – did not report the member’s performance at the event. However, for posterity here are the results: Paul Henke - putting contest, Tony Raimondo - best game, Denise Avagliano – best game, Steve Priola - honest golfer, Debra Casha - Honest golfer, Sue Speciale - Closest to the line, Sue Speciale & Lisa Raimondo - Longest drive

2011 Dinner Dance

The 2011 dinner dance was held at the Hanover Manor on May21. The event was a total success thanks the efforts Benny Catanzariti and Frank Suppa and others. Gene Maddalena was installed as the new chapter president. He gave Mickey D’Adduto, the outgoing president, congratulations for the fantastic job done during his tenure. Kathy Suppa was recognized as the Person of the Year. The award was presented by the National UNICO President - Chris DiMatteo. Kathy’s long list of contributions was detailed by Larry Casha.

Annual Scholarship Awards

Scholarship awards have been offered by UNICO for over 19 years in keeping with the UNICO motto of “Service above Self”. At the monthly meeting on April 26, 2011, UNICO awarded the annual Scholarship awards of $2000 each to Elena Marmo, Brady Caputo, Ashley Suppa and Michael Malanga. The recipients and their parents were honorary guests at a dinner ceremony. Each student was called up to receive a certificate.

Beef Steak Dinner and Tricky Tray

The Montville UNICO Foundation sponsored a beef steak dinner and tricky tray on April 2, 2011 at the St. Peters/all school auditorium, Parsippany, NJ.

Feast of St. Joseph

On March 22, 2011 Tutty Giordano arranged for a much talked-about Montville UNICO dinner program recognizing the Feast of St. Joseph. A spectacular table arrangement was laid out and included religious statues, bread and symbolic items of the occasion. Of course the dinner included the traditional pasta con sardi associated with the Feast of St. Joseph. The author of “The Secret Sin of Opi”, Peter Cimini, was the honored guest and he provided the backgrounds that lead him to write his book

Citizen of the Year

On March 5, 2011 at the Knoll County Club the Montville Chamber of Commerce honored UNICAN Sue Speciale as the “Citizen of the Year”. She has been involved with the Montville Township Board of Education for the past eleven years, served as President of the Parent Teacher Association for 4 years, and has been a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of Pine Brook Fire Department for over 20 years - serving as President for 4 years. After Holiday Dinner Fundraiser

January 9, 2011 - Montville UNICO had an after holiday dinner fundraiser at the Gourmet Café, Baldwin Rd., Parsippany. As they say, “A good time was had by all”. In addition the dinner served as a successful fundraiser event.

Christmas Party

The annual Christmas Party was held on Sunday, December 5, 2010 at the Venice-On-The-Hudson. We had great food, music, entertainment with Vivian Cleffi singing as “Liza” with the entertainer. Everyone had a wonderful time. Thank you Tutty- event coordinator.

The 22nd Annual Holiday Gift Wrapping

This year, as in the past, baskets of toys, clothes and gifts were assembled, wrapped and distributed to needy families in Montville and St. Peter’s and St. Anne’s parishes in Parsippany NJ. This wrapping program took place at the Pine Brook Fire House
